RAF Blue Troopers Celebrate 23rd Formation Day
The Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary said that the Rapid Action Force (RAF) is the most consistent, reliable force with inherent capacity for rapid mobilization to tackle difficult Law & Order situations throughout the nation. He was addressing the 23rd Formation Day of RAF Blue Troopers, at Secunderabad in Telangana today. 

While addressing, Shri Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary recalled the key contribution and role played by the RAF units which are deployed in ten sensitive locations in India in tackling various communal riots, riotous situations securing various mammoth religious congregations, rescue and relief operations. The force is also promoting communal peace and social harmony in their areas of responsibilities, he added. He also appreciated various sensitization projects launched by RAF on Swachh Bharat, ecological preservation and various other innovations on renewable energy and environmental education etc.

The Minister of State for Home Affairs also complemented the RAF for its regular dispatch of male, female contingents in various UNO peace keeping missions. He informed that there will be five more RAF units were sanctioned by Central government to augment the strength of RAF.

The Director General, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Shri Prakash Mishra, the Spl. Director General, CRPF, Shri K. Durga Prasad and other senior officers of various Central Police Forces were present on the occasion.

The highlight of the event was the sparkling ceremonial parade in blue disruptive pattern uniform. 78 CRPF officers were bestowed with President’s Police medals for their meritorious and distinguished services.

Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurates National Conference on Anti Human Trafficking
The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh has said that Human Trafficking is a very sensitive and serious issue. Terming it as a borderless organised crime, he said that India alone is not a victim of human trafficking as it is a global phenomena. Citing a recent report of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, Shri Rajnath Singh said the figures on South Asia are startling with more than 1.5 lakh people reported as victims in a single year. He said it is shocking that young girls are sexually exploited, children are subjected to amputation, people are sold like cattle stock and bonded labour is still rampant.

Mentioning that no civilized society can bear such inhuman practices, Shri Rajnath Singh said that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has put in place an effective mechanism and some remarkable achievements have been made to check this menace. He said the MHA is working on a revised scheme to strengthen the Anti-Human Trafficking Units (AHTUs) with the cooperation of the various State Governments. Underlining the role of various stakeholders including the NGOs especially in the rehabilitation of rescued victims, Shri Rajnath Singh said it is equally essential to have a nodal coordinating agency for the purpose and the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) project will also prepare a database on criminals engaged in human trafficking.

The Union Home Minister said India has recently signed an MoU with Bangladesh to check human trafficking and share information on perpetrating agencies or individuals. Shri Rajnath Singh hoped a similar agreement could be signed with Nepal.

On the occasion, the Union Home Minister gave away awards to the top performers of Operation Smile from States and Union Territories. Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD), Shri V. Somasundaram, Director CBI, Shri Anil Kumar Sinha and senior officials of MHA and MWCD were present.

Shri Kiren Rijiju leaves today for BRICS Migration Ministers Conference
The Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju today left for Sochi, Russia to attend the Fist BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) Ministerial Migration Meeting tomorrow. The meeting is aimed at bringing the BRICS Member Nations to consensus on the basic issues concerning migration in the BRICS nations.

The Migration Ministers of BRICS Member Nations will discuss various issues relating to migration including the opportunities, challenges and problems pertaining to regular and illegal migration in the BRICS member states. Each Minister will make a Country Statement about the issue of Migration. The meeting will also discuss subjects like “Migration as the factor of the successful development of the society in the context of the migration processes’ influence on the socio-economic and demographic situation in the world” and “New challenges and strategies in the frames of the transnational character of the migration flows”.

Sweden State Secretary for Home Affairs calls on MoS Home
The State Secretary for Home Affairs, Sweden, Ms. Ann Linde called on the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju, here yesterday.

During the meeting both the Ministers discussed various issues of importance to the two countries including Disaster Management, threat of Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and radicalization and steps being taken for counter-terrorism etc. While discussing about radicalization and threat of ISIL, Ms. Ann Linde observed that it is a big issue for Europe and urgent steps are being taken to protect the youth from lure of ISIL.

Shri Kiren Rijiju apprised that steps have already been initiated in India to keep the activities of such groups under constant check and it is seen that parents of such misguided youth are also discouraging them from getting attracted to any such idea.

While discussing various other issues such as reliable Swedish technology, re-organization of Swedish Police Force, secure borders, the Ministers also shown concern over forced migration from Syria and emphasized the need for their rehabilitation.

Ms. Ann Linde was also informed about culture of unity in diversity in India. On the lines of Indo-German Security Cooperation, both the sides emphasized the need for security co-operation between the two countries and have shown their commitment to pursue the same.

The Ambassador of Sweden to India, Mr. Harald Sandberg and senior officers of the Ministry of Home Affairs were also present during the meeting.
