Union Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan Inspects Installation of Sun Lights in Hutments in New Delhi today 

Union Minister of Science & Technology & Earth Sciences Dr Harsh Vardhan had inspected installation of sun lights in some hutments in New Delhi today. He was accompanied by this Secretary, Department of Science and Technology and senior officials of the Ministry.

These lights are being developed as a part of research project of the ministry. The Project implementation agency has already developed and designed few prototype of  Micro Solar Domes and installed the same in slum areas of Kolkata and Delhi. Data is being collected from these installations. Various parameters of making them cheaper, durable and preparing them for easy installation is being researched upon. These lamps are aimed at providing light in closely spaced hutments (Jhugi jhopadis) and are part of aimed of the government to utilize solar energy and to make the concerned products in India itself.
