TECHNICAL EDUCATION – Setting up of Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs) on Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis by Central Government, State Government and Industry – Formation of Committee to finalize the Industrial Partner to participate in IIIT (PPP) – Orders- Issued.

O R D E R:
 The Ministry of Human Recourses Development, Government of India is setting up 20 new Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs) to address the increased skilled challenges of the Indian Information Technology Industry and growth of the domestic Information Technology market.  The Union Cabinet in its meeting held on 7.12.2010 approved setting up of 20 new Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs) on Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis.  As per the approved scheme, the 3 partners in setting up the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs) would be the Ministry of Human Recourses Development, Government of India, Government of the respective State where each Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) would be established and the Industry partner.  The capital cost on each Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) is Rs.128 crores to be contributed in the ratio of 50:35:15 by the Central Govt., State Govt., and the Industry respectively.

2.    In the reference 1st read above, on the request of Government, the  Government of India  has accorded the approval for establishment of Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT)  in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode at Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh with the industry partners viz (i) Sri City Foundation (ii) Sri City Foundation Private Limited (iii)Chintalapati Holding Private Limited and (iv) Sannareddy Holding Private Limited with commitment to contribute Rs.3.20 Cr, Rs.10.00 Cr., Rs.4.00 Cr. And Rs.2.00 Cr. Respectively.

3.    In the reference 2nd read above, in order to cater to the educational needs of the students, the Government has requested the Ministry of Human Recourses Development, Government of India, to establish another Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs) in Public Private Partnership (PPP)  mode under the same scheme at Kakinda, East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh on similar lines, as the Government has already identified a land to an extent of Ac.100.00 near Kakinda in East Godavari District for establishment of the new Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT).

4.    In the reference 3rd read above, the Ministry of Human Recourses Development, Government of India has requested to send a complete Detailed Project Report, indicating the Industry Partners, financial contribution of the State Government / Industry Partner etc. to the Ministry of Human Recourses development, Government of India for an early consideration.

5.    Accordingly, the Commissioner of Technical Education, Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad in his letter 4th read above, has stated that a notification was issued on 14.09.2013 inviting the applications from potential industry partners for expression of interest to participate in establishment of Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) in Public private partnership (PPP) mode at near Kakinada. The last date for submission of EOI to their office is 27.9.2013 at 4.00 P.M. and submitted proposal to Government to constitute a Committee to finalize the industrial partner to participate in establishment of Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) in Public private partnership (PPP) mode in the State.

6.    The Government after careful examination of the matter hereby constitute a Committee to finalize the industrial partners to participate in the establishment of Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) in Public private partnership (PPP) mode at Kakinada, East Godavari District in the State as per the guidelines of Government of India in the matter with the following members:-

1.  The Secretary to  Government,  IT Deptt., Govt. of Andhra Pradesh.
2.  The Commissioner of Technical Education, A.P., Hyderabad
3.  The Vice-Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies, Hyderabad

4.  The Commissioner of Industries Deptt., Govt. of Andhra Pradesh.

7.    The said committee is requested to send its report to the Government within one month positively.

8.    The commissioner of Technical Education, A.P., Hyderabad shall take necessary further action in the matter, accordingly.
